Nvidia Unveils Cloud Gaming Upgrade and China-Specific Chip Amid Trade Constraints
Nvidia is set to deliver its most significant GeForce Now cloud gaming service enhancement to date. Starting September 2025, Ultimate tier subscribers will access RTX 5080-powered servers boasting 62 teraflops of compute power and a 48GB frame buffer. The upgrade pairs AMD's Ryzen Zen 5 CPUs with doubled memory capacity, enabling 5K streaming at 120fps and competitive 1080p gameplay at 360fps with 30ms latency.
The Cinematic Quality Streaming mode introduces HDR10 support, AI-enhanced filters, and AV1 codec streaming at 100Mbps. Nvidia's game library will expand to 4,500 titles through cloud-stored Install to Play functionality. Storage options range from 100GB free for premium users to 1TB at $2.99/month.
Concurrently, Nvidia is developing specialized chips for the Chinese market, navigating stringent export regulations. The move demonstrates the company's dual focus on consumer technology and geopolitical adaptability.
